Marianne splits her time between training animals and working as a veterinary assistant at Companion Pet Care in Littleton, NH. She advocates for low-stress handling in the veterinary hospital and guides pet parents using marker training techniques.
A Solution for Every Species
While most people come to trainers for help with their dogs, Marianne got her start working with birds of prey. The principles of effective training transcend species, and it’s helpful to work with a variety. While each species is unique in its needs and skills, humane behavior change is effective for everything from alligators to Affenpinschers.
Her career continued working with draft and rescue horses, and she still is a strong advocate for positive reinforcement for our equine companions.
For All in Human Care
Marianne has seen all kinds of animals in human care: from pets, abandoned wildlife from the pet trade, and exotic animals in accredited zoos.
Marianne has always been passionate about enriching the lives of all animals, no matter their circumstances. This led her to complete her graduating college presentation on increasing animal welfare in zoos and beyond. Every species deserves kind and compassionate care, and enhancing the well-being of animal ambassadors is inherent to their conservation in the wild.
Commitment to Professional Organizations
Just like a medical professional belongs to a relevant organization, Marianne takes her work in animal behavior just as seriously. She is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and has attained the status of Associate Certified Dog Behavior Consultant with the IAABC. These organizations require commitment to continuing education and strict professional standards.
